Each of us has the
opportunity to be a “difference maker” or a “change agent”. This opportunity presents itself each and every
day of the week. As parents, classroom teachers, administrators, and community
members it is our responsibility to “seize the moment” and take full advantage
of each and every teachable moment.
How can we do this?
Accentuate the positive: Look at the positive opportunities from each learning
lesson. Remember that we all can learn from each “growth moment” in our
day. Failure is “ok”. We can learn from
mistakes and turn those experiences into a new learning experience.
Access resources: Use proven, researched-based strategies to help move the learning process
forward. We are surrounded by a multitude of strategies. Just select the one
that works best for you (and your learners).
Networked Partnerships: Rely on
trusted colleagues for advice and support. Your Professional Learning Network
(PLN) or your Professional Learning Community (PLC) are two reliable and dependable
avenues to garner support and information.
Take Risks:
It’s ok to try something new. As long as it is going to make a positive impact and
meet the learners” where they are”, then it’s full steam ahead.
Whether you are working with
Common Core State Standards, a new online teacher evaluation tool, a revised
budget, your parent organization, you can take charge and lead your group,
classroom, or school forward. You simply
need to be “that” educator who is ready to be the change agent for your school
community.
